Well we are back in the office (North Battleford) after a good season the hunt was a little on the slow side this year however everyone was happy with what they harvested, some didn't shoot out of choice, not big enough, for which I have the utmost respect. The fellows that didn't shoot are helping us with game management" let them grow another year if you shoot all the young ones you won't get any mature big bucks". We did get some nice 140 - 165 class bucks some heavy 8's etc not many had to pay the trophy fee of $300.00. The weather was mild except for some wind, the Nov. 28 - week was one of the mildest on record and best hunting ? We have posted all pictures on Northern Whitetail Outfitters Face Book take a look.

Contrary to some belief Saskatchewan doesn't have a "BOONEY" behind every tree HOW EVER there is the POSSIBILITY, "you have to go to where the big ones are in order to ever have the chance to get one."  Saskatchewan still holds the WORLD'S record WHITETAIL to prove it. Talking to some local hunters who have been hunting farm land and forest for the past three weeks they have told me they're not seeing the number of WHITETAILS they have in the past. Was last years winter too hard on our deer ?My hunters have harvested some mature bucks with under developed racks which leads me to think they just didn't get the nutrition during development. We had a very dry spring / summer that didn't produce the good hay / grass to nourish horn development. I think any WHITETAIL that scores over 140 inches is a trophy or as they say " beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder". I have learned some new traites in Whitetail hunting, thanks to reports from my hunters this year and I will be implementing some of these new traites next year.

The weather has gotten colder now not much snow yet. Been talking to locals and very few big deer were taken this fall ( big as in anything over 150 ) so we did alright with our averages this year. I had a few suggestions on how to improve next years hunt and I appreciate the in put and hunter knowledge after all you sit in our stands more than I do so it's good to get your in put. Soon we will be turning our attention to the bear hunts which we hunt out of different stands then the deer. Bears like dark swampy areas were they can get at the greens and frogs etc right early in spring so our locations do change. One thing we didn't see this year again are Moose , seen a few Moose hunters but no Moose. You heard about the guide getting shot by a hunter by Glasyn, just west of us , well we saw the guide the other day and looks as though he will make a perfect recovery " Thank God ".
